NOVENA TO NUESTRO PADRE JESUS NAZARENO

Hymn:

P: Brothers and sisters, let us kneel before

the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno.

Let us worship Him who sits at the right hand

of the Father, living forevermore.

N: Brothers and sisters, listen to the words of our Lord:

OPTION 1

Suffering

is part of God’s calling for you,

for when Christ suffered for you,

He gave you an example to follow.

He committed no sin,

nor did He deceive anyone.

When insulted, He did not retaliate.

When afflicted with suffering, He did not threaten;

instead, He entrusted Himself

to God, the just Judge.

In His death on the cross,

He bore the weight of our sins

so that we may die to sin

and live according to God’s will.

By His wounds, you have been healed.

For you were like lost sheep,

but now you have returned

to follow the Shepherd

and Guardian of your souls.

(1 Peter 1:21-25)

OPTION 2

Whoever wants to follow me

must deny themselves,

take up their cross,

and follow me.

For whoever wants to save their life

will lose it,

but whoever loses their life

for my sake will find it.

For what good will it be for someone

to gain the whole world

yet forfeit their soul?

Or what can anyone give

in exchange for their soul?

For the Son of Man is going to come

in His Father’s glory with His angels,

and then He will reward each person

according to his deeds. (Matthew 16:24-27)

OPTION 3

This saying is true:

“If we die with Christ,

we will also live with him.

If we endure hardship in this world,

we will also reign with him.

If we deny him,

he will also deny us.

If we are faithless,

he remains faithful,

for he cannot deny himself.

(2 Timothy 1:11-13)

P: Jesus Nazareno,

our Lord and God,

you are worthy to receive

praise and thanksgiving,

honor and reverence,

glory and power

forever and ever. Amen.

N: You are the only Son of God!

You are also the child of the Virgin Mary, immaculate.

Mary gave you to us

as our Savior and brother.

You gave Mary to us as our Mother and hope.

You filled her with grace.

Fill us also with the grace of the Holy Spirit:

love, joy, peace,

patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,

and self-control. Amen.

P: Jesus Nazareno,

our Lord and God,

you are worthy to receive

praise and thanksgiving,

honor and reverence,

glory and power

forever and ever. Amen.

N: You revealed to us the face of the invisible God:

God who is full of love and rich in mercy.

You were like us in all things, except sin.

In baptism, you made us children of All-Holy God.

In our daily lives,

may we show

what is pleasing to our Father. Amen.

P: Jesus Nazareno,

our Lord and God,

you are worthy to receive

praise and thanksgiving,

honor and reverence,

glory and power

forever and ever. Amen.

N: You fully understand and bear

the sins of humanity

in the past, present,

and until the end of time.

You followed the will of the Father:

you endured much suffering and death on the cross

to redeem people

from every tribe, language, nation, and race

and make them priests

to serve God the Father Almighty.

May we be with you

in your continued suffering and offering for the salvation of the world. Amen.

P: Jesus Nazareno,

our Lord and God,

you are worthy to receive

praise and thanksgiving,

honor and reverence,

glory and power

forever and ever. Ame

N: For you are good.

Your love is so strong and enduring,

it will not fade, endless and everlasting. Amen.
